Classical World Champion and Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh faced a tough defeat in the second leg of the quarterfinal match against USA’s Fabiano Caruana during the 2025 Weissenhaus Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour on Monday.
This loss has resulted in Gukesh being knocked out from the top-four race following his back-to-back losses in the two-legged quarterfinal.
As a result of this loss, Gukesh will now compete in the 5th-8th place Playoff.
